Flying to Bukudal
We had the incredible opportunity to fly to Bukudal with our friend Mike Beath from MAF. I was not sure what to expect.
I had been to Bukudal several times before with my adopted 'Duway' (husband/wife/best friend relationship), Charmaine. But this time, Charmaine was not coming and we were going to meet some other relatives of ours that Mike had been leading Bible studies with. I could not put faces to names and I was not sure how well accepted we would be. Did these relatives know that we had been adopted into their family?
When we arrived, I was suddenly humbled to find that two of the three men there were related to me as 'Marlo' (fathers). They were brothers and elders of the family, custodians of the land. I was very surprised by this, because I had not spent much time with them before. However, they were more closely related (relationship of familiarity) to me than family members I regularly spent time with.
Only God could have arranged this situation! And of course He was planning it the year before when He first prompted my little 'Yapa' (sister) Moipi to adopt me. God placed us with this beautiful family in precisely the way that He wanted it to be. As a result, Tim and I were given a privileged opportunity to speak and share from the Bible with the elders of the family! Because of the male/female dynamic, I may not have been welcomed there at all. But because I was a daughter, I was given a very free and open relationship.
God is so good. We feel so blessed by His provision of family.
Mark 10: 29-30 NASB
'Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life."
