Combined Church Service

It is such a privilege to be part of the monthly combined church service. Our wet season just kept going this year so meetings had to wait until it was dry enough. There has been such a positive response for many of the churches across Gove.

Andy from the Uniting Church and Tim have been organising the combined services for the first Sunday of each month, coordinating speakers, musicians, Bible readers, and prayer leaders from various churches. There has been a good crowd of people come to the beach at Wirrawuy so far, and the fellowship has been fantastic! It is such a blessing to be able to be with the local family of Christ and get to know people as they come and go through Gove.

I cannot help but give credit to those over the years who have been ambassadors for unity in the Church. Many people for many years have been praying for greater fellowship and encouragement for the Church in Gove. Our dear friends Michael and Naomi Beath are just one example of humble people who have passionately pursued relationships and facilitated greater unity. I pray that their legacy and the legacy of the many others will grow beyond their greatest prayers.

There are so many dedicated believers in this region (missionaries, teachers, doctors, professionals in various industries, retirees, full time parents, students) who work tirelessly for the Gospel. Day in and day out, they use their gifts in service of the people in the local communities in the name of Jesus Christ. When Jesus said "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;" (Luke 10:2a NASB) it reveals all too keenly that there is so much more of His Work to do. He also said in John 4:35-38 "Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.” '

How powerful it is when 'he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together'!! How powerful it is when we have the opportunity to stand side by side and declare the glory of God!

God is indeed very good. And His family is both blessed and a blessing.

As the wider Church prays for us, we ask that you would pray for more opportunities of fellowship and encouragement. We ask that you would pray for unity in the local Church. And we ask that you pray the rest of Luke 10:2

"..therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. " (Luke 10:2b NASB)
